Role Overview

As a Tax Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing the tax compliance and reporting responsibilities for the group of companies. You will work closely with senior management, finance teams, and external advisors to ensure tax efficiency and compliance across all jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file corporate tax returns for multiple entities within the group, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Manage VAT, PAYE, and other indirect taxes for the group.
  • Assist in tax planning and strategy, providing guidance on tax-efficient structures and opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with tax regulations.
  • Liaise with ZIMRA or equivalent authorities on tax-related matters, including audits and inquiries.
  • Perform tax reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on tax matters, including accounting, legal, and financial considerations.
  • Stay up to date with relevant tax laws and regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant.
  • Assist with year-end tax reporting and provide ad-hoc tax analysis as required.
  • Support the finance team with budgeting, forecasting, and tax risk management.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor´s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Proven experience (4+ years) in tax accounting, preferably within a group of companies or a corporate setting.
  • Solid knowledge of Zimbabwe tax regulations, including corporate tax, VAT, and PAYE.
  • Experience with tax compliance and reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-specialists.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
